Grading for Proficiency

Based on the 3 Modes of Communication

In 2018, the World Language Departments at LCJSMS and SHS switched to a proficiency based grading system based on the three modes of communication. So, what does this mean? There are 3 modes of communication: presentational, interpersonal, and interpretive. In Genesis this year, you will see "PRES," "INTP," and "INTT" next to each assignment to clarify whether it involved presentational skills (writing or presenting), interpersonal skills (conversing/speaking), or interpretive skills (reading or listening). Grades in Genesis will also be broken down into the following categories:

La Tarea / Homework: 5-10 points

La Participación / Participation: 5-10 points

Trabajo en Clase / Classwork: 10-20 points

Las Pruebas / Quizzes: 15-50 points

Los Proyectos / Projects: 40-75 points
